Why Hypnosis Works When Other Wellness Programs Fail

Have you ever tried to change an unhealthy habit and failed because you couldn't stick with it? Often it's your subconscious mind, not your lack of willpower, that is keeping you from succeeding. Your subconscious mind influences what you think and feel. Hypnosis for wellness can help you overcome your subconscious mind and thereby reduce or eliminate unhealthy habits.

Hypnosis can help you stop smoking or overeating. It also has been successful in reducing or eliminating common fears and phobias, such as public speaking and fear of flying. Hypnosis is also used in a medical environment to help patients suffering from disease and chronic pain. The most common applications of hypnosis for wellness being used in workplace today are smoking cessation and weight management programs.

Group formats can be used in both cases to help employees overcome unhealthy habits. The group hypnosis approach has proven to be an effective, supportive and motivating forum for making lifestyle changes. However, in cases where deep emotional attachments and addictions are present, additional one-on-one sessions may be needed.

There is no magic to achieving success with hypnosis. Anyone who can follow directions can reach a hypnotic state and work with their subconscious mind. Many people are wary of hypnosis, but there is no reason to be afraid. Hypnosis is actually a naturally occurring state of mind, in which healthful suggestions can be communicated to the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind is the part of our mind that influences what we think, how we feel and the choices we make. This is also the part of our mind that controls our habits. A hypnotic trance is similar to a daydream or a focused state that results from being engrossed in an engaging event, like reading a good book. Since hypnosis is a natural state of mind, individuals are often surprised that they hear every word.

Unless one enters a deep state, he or she may not feel any different than when they are relaxed. Everyone is different. Some people who have experienced a hypnotic trance say they felt "mellow" or "light" or even euphoric. During the hypnotic process, your abilities to imagine, remember and accept suggestions are enhanced.

Hypnosis enables deep relaxation, which reduces stress, which often plays a role in many unhealthy behaviors. It can increase your energy levels and boost your immune system. In dealing with many unhealthy habits, the desire to overcome the behavior often is stronger than the will to quit. Hypnosis helps bolster the subconcious mind, which leads to more success in reducing and eliminating unhealthy behaviors.
