When deciding to accept a new job, nearly 60 percent of all perspective employees feel a company’s perks and benefits are almost as important as the salary offered, according to a recent survey conducted by Glassdoor Economic Research. That’s roughly three out of every five potential employees, and many companies have taken notice.

In order to attract the best, most worthwhile talent, employers are working to meet the needs of their current and future employees by implementing corporate wellness programs. But many companies feel a free gym pass and “free lunch Fridays” fall short of what their employees truly deserve. These companies know a unique and innovative wellness plan will help their employees stay happy, healthy, and consistently contributing to their core financial goals.

So who are these companies and what are some of the more incredible, unique, and surprising ways they are ensuring the well-being of both their employees and their bottom line?

  1. REI. This privately held American retail corporation encourages its employees to take two paid days off a year to enjoy their favorite outdoor activities.
  2. World Wildlife Fund. The panda-loving nonprofit organization gives its employees every other Friday off, a day they coined “Panda Fridays”
  3. Burton. Founded by a professional snowboarder, this company offers season ski passes and “snow days” to their employees so they can hit the slopes
  4. Twitter. The social media giant is well-known for going above-and-beyond with employee perks, including three catered meals a day, on-site acupuncture, and improv classes.
  5. Evernote. The California based company encourage team-building and cooperation among its employees by hosting classes through “Evernote Academy,” which offers fun courses like macaroon baking.
  6. Asana. This web and mobile app software company gives employees access to executive and life coaching services

While company culture, career opportunities and senior leadership are also important factors in cultivating employee satisfaction, offering a corporate wellness program, regardless of its exact perks, is a great way to get—and keep—happy, healthy and productive employees.
